Horrible and Cheap handles that do not hold up

I have had this particular refrigerator for several years so I can write a honest review. I have replaced the freezer door bar (handle on 3 different occasions. They could have used metal fasteners and this door handle would have lasted a lifetime. But they used cheap plastic fasteners which just do not hold up. The groove in the handle itself breaks over time because they did not used metal. The door shelves are plastic and they too do not hold up.

Broke months after warranty, GE shrugs uselessly

The compressor broke mere months after the THREE YEAR warranty expired and we have to get a new fridge. GE was unhelpful and good customer service isn't their policy. I don't blame the customer service people over the phone, they are merely enforcing a terrible customer service policy. I will never EVER buy a GE product again if can help it.

We bought this during the pandemic, in a hurry. Never hooked up the water line because of many reviews that said it leaked. It is less than 5 years old and now our own appliance repairman says the compressor needs replacement. This is an extremely expensive part plus labor so we are faced with decision about repair or replacement while our food spoils. We had to call the 800 number / call center soon after we bought it in order to get a small repair taken care of and it took over 2 weeks for the repairman to get here. JUNK

Nothing but problems. Tge water hookup started leaking after 1 year. Thank God it was a quick fix. However now it started leaking again. Figured it was the same issue and just decided to turn tge water off. But now my vegetables are freezing in the vegetable drawer. Do not think I will be buying another one.

Freezer began leaking underneath without my noticing & ruined my LVP flooring approx 1 month after the warranty expired. It then began dripping water in the freezer, thus a sheet of ice continually formed & had to be cracked up & removed every few days. We disconnected the ice maker. 5 yrs later, the refrigerated section stopped working. It™€™s about 6 yrs old. Appliances made after the 90s are sadly, apparently disposable because I recently read 4.75 yrs is the average lifespan in 2024. Ridiculous.

We absolutely love this fridge. The look is awesome and it cleans easily. The draws offer ample storage capabilities, and the shelves in the doors can be adjusted to the heights and configurations that suit your needs. If I have one complaint it would be with the freezer. For a family of four we would have liked it to be a little deeper.

Two major disappointments. 1. The Water Dispenser is inside the door. Why not let all the cold air out when you need a drink? Brilliant. 2. The plastic connector that binds the handle to the freezer door is not strong enough. The entire handle broke off when my pregnant wife pulled it the other day. Fortunately, she didn't fall and wasn't injured. We were lucky. She could have easily hurt herself or one of my children. Other brands often have metal screws hold the handles in place and we never had any issues with those. The weak plastic connectors caused the handle itself to break (also plastic) - and I had to spend $60+ bucks for a replacement. Very bummed.

Overall, the fridge is great. It looks great, it functions well ,it™€™s very deep, not noisy and holds a lot. I bought it because I wanted a water dispenser but not one on the outside that takes up room. It does have one internally with a little hose/straw type spigot that comes out. My only complaint is that I wish that little hose/straw like thing was a little bit longer (and dispensed faster) because I tend to spill the water. The other drawback is that you have to have the door open the whole time when you get water from it. However, it does save on space. Overall, I do really like the fridge.

I bought this GNE25JSKFFSS fridge Dec 2018. From the moment we had it delivered the rollers were and continue to be SUPPER loud. Think of a old creaky door hinge times 10. Now after only 4 years of ownership the door flap spring broke, getting condensation then freezing water inside fridge, loud knocking noises throughout the night that wake us up. Why are appliances made to be short term , disposable items these days? Where is the quality and longevity?

So far I am impressed with this refrigerator. I love the space and layout. Coming from having a side by side refrigerator the freezer drawer is a learning moment. Would not recommend. It is loud. If products are not 100% within the borders of the shelves, the air does not flow right, causing products to freeze. It is also loud. The plastic on the shelving is not durable and I am hoping that GE will stand by this product for the replacement part.

Lots of storage for fruits and vegetables. Numerous areas for condiments. Lighting is excellent. The top shelves are only used by my tall husband and son.(I'm only 4'9"). Love the ice maker even though it does take up space in the freezer. We love the freezer on the bottom. The freezer area has more storage space than our old side by side of the same size and I can see all freezer food!!

This hunk of garbage lasted just over 2 years before it stopped freezing and cooling. The service tech says it needs a new compressor and condenser...for the low low price of $1000+ (minus the $100 service fee). The hunk of junk only cost $1600 brand new in 2019. I think I'd be better off putting that $1000 into a new (and different brand) refrigerator.

The unit has run great except when we tried to replace the water filter and it shut off the water supply. I've just scheduled a GE tech to come in a few days, but I think it's because there's a shut off valve in the back that detects leaking, so hopefully they can fix that! The ice tray underneath gets a little messy as there are holes in the shelf and ice cubes fall through, but other those issues, I would recommend this fridge.

This was a bargain of a fridge. The features are great, simple but effective. It is super roomy inside, you can truly use it to its capacity. The freezer drawer is hard to clean if you spill something but overall no major complains. The beeping of the doors open can be slightly annoying but effective as we do realize that things are not closed properly. Overall really pleased with this purchased.

I really like the exterior look and the interior storage of this fridge. Unfortunately, the water dispenser inside the door is difficult to get to, and requires me to open both doors and stand there allowing all the air to get out while I fill my cup. This is really untenable. Pretty sure there's a better way to design this.

This fridge seems fine. It™€™s quite a bit larger in cubic feet than our old fridge but the freezer space is poor due to the rolling shelves. It fits less than our previous counter depth freezer (freezer on top model). The ice maker and water filter are great as well as the door space. It was a tight fit into our house so check the measurements!

Pros: Plenty of Room Produces Ice Dual Temperature Controls Adjustable shelves Cons Water Dispenses Slowly Freezer Drawer feels cheaply made and not sturdy It™€™s a middle of the road fridge and will keep your food cold/frozen. No fancy bells and whistles.
