Better QC needed

So far good machine. Making ice like it should. Two issues 1) the leveling feet were screwed in to the bushings too tight. When unscrewing one of the feet, the knurled nut spun free making it useless. I had to shim that leg. 2) the protective plastic over the stainless panels goes completely around the corners into the joints between panels. When peeling it off you leave ugly scraps in all joints. I disassembled all the skins to peel it all out, but that's a lot to ask a homeowner to do.

Makes ice super fast. Only reason why it doesn't get 5 stars is that it is loud, but we always seemed to have an ice shortage with what our fridge ice maker holds so this was a must have appliance. We will likely just turn it off in the winter months when we won't use ice as much. It also looks very sleek and pretty.

DO NOT purchase this product unless you're putting it in an outside kitchen or separate bar area. My house is an open floor plan and this ice maker is at our wet bar in our living room. This device has woken up my children on MULTIPLE occasions bc of the loud noise. The ice hits the front, plastic part of the door and is VERY annoying. Can't wait to replace it.

I had the same ice maker a few years ago and it made much smaller cubes. This one has much larger cubes which makes too loud a noise when they fall into the bin. Cubes are clear and they are made fast enough.

A bonus to have in the kitchen

I've never had an ice machine and I'm not sure I would've chosen to have one if my builder hadn't already had it in the house. However, it is nice to have. I prefer the smaller cubes to the moon shaped ones from the refrigerator. It does seem like I just cleaned it and need to do it again, which is kind of a pain. But I can't ignore the "clean me" light that illuminates when you open the door. It is much louder than I would've expected - both the dropping of ice and the motor when it is running. We've had two guests that thought someone was breaking in our house in the middle of the night when it was unloading.

Makes great ice - but so LOUD!

We really like the nice clear ice it makes in a short amount of time - but this is the LOUDEST appliance I've ever seen! It sounds like rocks being thrown into a bucket when it drops the ice. If I had realized this I would have put it in the laundry room. We will have to turn it off when we have our gatherings. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't so loud.

Endless Ice Supply

This little ice maker never stops! I love having an endless supply of ice. The ice is also very fresh and the perfect size. It does make more noise than my regular fridge ice maker though and I had to buy a $600 pump for it to drain the melted ice away from it. I think that should just be part of the machine itself. Other than that I love it.

Replacement for similar Ice Maker

This replaced another GE ice maker in a recently purchased home. Two things to be aware of -- first, it does not come with a pump, which costs roughly another $500, and second, the "blank" from door was slightly different than its predecessor, which required some alterations in order to mount the cabinet panel on it. Otherwise, it work as expected.

The ice made by the machine is flawless....crystal clear and solid. It's too bad this is the 2nd GE ice maker I have had which is irritatingly noisy and just seems to cycle way too much. Noticeable impact on our energy bill from this appliance.

Awesome Ice Maker

So far so good. We replaced an old ZDIS15CSSH and it was an exact fit to include piping. The ice cubes are a little big but with the timer adjustments I am able to change the size. The ice is very clean and clear. Hope to use this machine for 16 years like we did the last unit.

Beyond Noisy!!

We recently built our dream home and this appliance is the worst purchase EVER! My husband and I never argue, but thanks to this noisy machine we do now. I turn it off, he turns it back on, I turn it off...and so it goes. The ice output is great, BUT the water being delivered to the output tray and the ice drop is beyond disruptive. This unit needs to be a garage ice machine only.

Horribly noisy

My husband is an engineer for GE so when we built our house, of course we installed all GE appliances. And, we adore them all...except for the Gourmet Clear Ice Icemaker. It is beyond loud; it is truly disruptive. While it makes ice just fine, we really regret this purchase simply due to the noise. As loyal as we are to GE, we should have explored other brands. Very disappointed.

Great Ice Maker

We've had several clear ice makers over the years. This is the best one of all. It is very quiet relative to others, makes lots of ice, and is well designed. Of course you hear the cubes drop, but the rest of the cycle is nearly silent. Our installation requires a drain pump which is a little noisy. Overall this ice maker is better than anything we have had at home or at the office.

Quickly makes ice

Had this just 2 days, but have some observations. 1) As the installer, access to water inlet is clumsy. The inlet is aimed toward the left wall where there is no room to make a 90 degree turn with a stainless steel flexible water line. I had to bend a soft copper tube sharply which added 2 more joints to leak. The inlet should be directed down where you have more room to turn. There were no instructions indicating there was an access panel to make installation easier. 2) It makes ice very quickly. 3) Ice dropping into the bin is quite noisy so if that bothers you then this one is not for you. Perhaps all ice machines are noisy. It went to the garage for that very reason
