I have this unit in my basement after the compressor in my old unit finally died after 7 years. I have been using this unit for roughly 3 weeks and it never shuts off. My daughter purchased this dehumidifier for me as a gift. She™€™s been using this brand for years and loves it. I™€™ve owned big and clunky dehumidifiers in the past, and I seem satisfied. Until I received this one and now I know the difference between an OK and an outstanding dehumidifier.. I like the small sleek design and clean lines. The control panel is clearly marked and easy to operate. Another thing is I use the hose for draining the water off. The other brands you had to keep the bucket out in order to function. This one you keep it installed order to work. Which to me makes it more aesthetically pleasing to me. Also, with the lower humidity coverage it seems cooler my allergy seems better. Which are all of plus.

Highly Inaccurate- buy something else

The humidity sensor is inaccurate. The on/off range is in 5 degree increments (which is not the problem) which doesn™€™t trigger an operational change for 10 degrees. Combined with the bad sensor makes this the most inaccurate dehumidifier I have ever owned.

I ordered the dehumidifier from an online retailer and it came a few weeks later. After only 2 days it failed. All the indicator lights blinked and the compressor and fan didn't work. I returned the faulty unit paying a restocking fee.

I ordered the dehumidifier from Lowes.com and it came a few weeks later. After only 2 days it failed! All the indicator lights blinked and the compressor and fan didn't work. I unplugged it for a day and it worked for an hour then quit. I unlugged it for 2 days and it wouldn't work. I waited over the weekend for Haier customer service. I talked to the rep who said if the lights are blinking, the unit is broken and should be returned. I took it back to Lowes who told me there was a 10 day limit on special order returns, which I had missed by a couple of days. I argued with the store manager who finally agreed to take back the unit that only worked 2 days. But they charged me a 20% restocking fee! I paid $60 for a unit that only worked 2 days! Total rip off for total trash. I drove over to Home Depot and bought a Toshiba dehumidifier. It was bigger than the Haier (50 pints, as compared to 35) and it cost $56 less. Also, Home Depot will take it back for no charge for 90 days. It's been working fine for 3 weeks. Don't buy Haier!

Haier Dehumidifier

The dehumidifier is brand new and functions properly as we hoped. It pulls a lot of water from the air. It can be a little noisy at times as the plastic body vibrates at the drain hose door and where the drain bucket rests in the base of the unit. Some rubber bushings in key spots to keep it quieter should have been thought of by the design engineers. All in all it seems to get the job done, but ask me in 1-2 years! It's also a little spendy.

We had a 15+ year old unit from Haier that failed. We replaced it with the latest model and it has been excellent. It is quiet and very reliable. The basement is completely dry and the unit runs only occasionally. I strongly recommend the unit that has a gravity drip hose attachment. The hose connection is an improved deign over the 32 capacity model.
