Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

Incredibly terrible

Need a new oven 8/7/2026

Terrible. The microwave is weak, needs triple the time of my $80 countertop microwave. The oven does not maintain any temperature. You open the doors once and 425 becomes 373. It won™€™t reheat unless you power it off and reset it to 425, then very slowly. Touch buttons also don™€™t work if any grease at all is on them. Just terrible in every way!

Poor quality, control panel glitches after 2 years

Piece of Junk do not purchase!

unhappyincolorado 4/6/2026

This came in our new home via the builders choice of kitchen style (not our choice). It was delivered and installed by Ferguson's (reputable company). A year and 2 months after we purchased the home the User Interface board went out and it was past the warranty window of course. We had only used the oven maybe a dozen times, but used the microwave daily. Upon research and thru the repairman that came out, I now know that one way the user interface board and the separate mother board can easily malfunction and go out are due to power outages. We were out of town for a few weeks and came home and the control board is locked, cannot reset it or use it, unknown reason. Part replacement cost for the user interface board is $700 plus installation. You cannot even get that part right now because there are so many service calls for this exact problem. The microwave is one of the slowest and crappy microwaves I have ever had, took forever to cook anything or heat anything up. Oven worked fine when it was working. Having to pay for repairs on this is going to cost around $850 with no guarantee that it won't happen again. Do not purchase this product, it is a money pit.

Not built to last

Lynn 2/10/2026

After reading other reviews to see if others have had the same problem, I learned that this appliance really looks a lot nicer than it is. Let's face it, it's not cheap and purports to have great features. Perhaps. But, does Whirlpool take pride in their craftsmanship? If so, they would stand by their product. The unit is in a house I just bought in January that was built in 2021. The magnetron broke so the microwave is useless. After 5 years! In all my 50 years, I've had three (counter) microwaves, starting with the one my parents bought when I was a kid (Sharp), to my first one when I got married - lasted 16 years (Whirlpool VIP Crispwave), to my current one (Sharp) that's at least 14 years old. This one should be the most amazing for the price and features, but, it doesn't work and will cost $900 to fix. Unfortunately, it's connected to the oven, so until that breaks, it will just sit as a broken reminder not to buy from a company that doesn't believe in the quality of their products. The next one will definitely not be Whirlpool. Can't reward bad service with another purchase.

Not made to last more than 5 years

Vern 2/10/2026

Horrible quality for the price! After 5 years, the microwave requires a $900 repair! Buying a new microwave for much, much less, makes more sense than pouring money in to an overpriced appliance that won't last. Since it is connected to the oven and share the same control panel, it will make a very expensive storage space. Whirlpool doesn't cover the repair, so they clearly don't have confidence in the quality of their product.

WORST APPLIANCE EVER

Sonny 2/8/2026

This thing SUCKS, bought a 4 year old home with these units and they metal pieces of nothing useful. The wall oven just doesn™€™t work at all. Microwave with heat and not turn off or it won™€™t heat at all. The oven does the same except it continues to heat after the timer. The touchscreen is the worst, how many buttons just to heat something for +30 seconds. I wish I didn™€™t have to spend more money after buying a house but immediately I am replacing all these units with something better. Do not buy this at all.

Hunk of junk. Truly awful.

Quinn P. 11/28/2025

Like so many others here, this unit came with my new build house just a few years ago. Since then it's been a dumb annoyance at best, and faulty at worst. First, let's be clear that this thing has a truly awful interface not designed by actual humans; all functionality is in the touchscreen, which was not created by anyone competent. Every interaction with this is frustrating. But things got worse from the jump: I had many, many occasions on which the thing locked up. WHILE THE OVEN WAS ON. Which is, uh, not ideal! The only answer was to reset the breaker, which seems pretty silly. Beyond that, the microwave is weak as all get out, and ™€“ just 3 1/2 years into its service life ™€“ the oven is now failing, not able to hold or properly adjust temperatures. It's a truly horrid hunk of junk and I can't recommend this at all. I'm mad that I am looking at new ovens so soon, but this appliance is just trash. I'm soured on Whirlpool and its sister brands too ™€“ there's no way they're making anything of quality, not with stuff like this on the market.

I™€™ve not even had this oven 3 years. The microwave will keep running and get stuck on a time and not heat and now the oven continues to heat even after being turned off which is a huge fire hazard. I had to turn the breaker off to it and back on and waiting to go to bed until I know it™€™s cooled down.

Poorly designed unit that thankfully didn™€™t last.

Andrew 9/3/2025

This unit came with the three year old house we purchased last month. Weeks after moving in, we found the unit to operate extremely unpredictably, inconsistently, and unsafely. Once the microwave and the oven would continue to heat after the timer expiring, we turned off the breaker and are now waiting for a new unit/more reliable brand to be installed. It was also frustrating to use when it did work as the touchscreen panel required multiple steps and menus to perform the simplest functions.

two weeks after buying a 3 year old home, our oven began operating with extremely inconsistent results: overheating, not turning off after the timer stopped, etc. Ultimately, we had to throw the breaker while we waited to have it altogether replaced.

Microwave takes forever to heat food

Tomas 5/15/2025

The microwave takes too much time to heat food, much longer than any microwave I've ever had. This is unacceptable for the price paid. In the morning, I have to put my coffee back in the microwave more than once because is not hot enough. It came with a new house I purchased 18 months ago, it has been like that since day 1. I always trusted Whirlpool as a great brand, but this microwave is not performing as it should

LOW Quality . This oven has been a problem since the beginning and has always given me a hard time. Initially the bottom oven light would stay on constantly. After getting that fixed another issue arose where the oven heat would get stuck, requiring me to shut off the entire circuit to stop it. After keeping it off for a whole week it started working again but then the microwave stopped functioning. Now the display is completely blank. I would never recommend this product to anyone. After four years, I have never has a chance to fully use it due to constant issues.

Worst wall Oven and microwave

AzRed 3/30/2025

The worst wall oven and microwave I™€™ve ever owned. Oven takes forever to come to temperature. When you open the oven door at temperature to add something, it resets temperature and has to pre-heat again. Set temperature is unstable and does not stay maintained throughout the cook. The microwave doesn™€™t always close completely and has to be forced shut. Poorly made junk.

Like others have said: came with the house, worked well for a while, loses power a lot, and completely dead by year 3. It's not in stock anymore and I bet I know why. Very disappointed... Control board failure!!!

Randall 2/13/2025

Extremely disappointed in this appliance. The control panel has locked up and there is absolutely no way of unlocking it! After doing some research online this appears to be a VERY common issue that requires the control panel to be replaced. The touch screen on the control panel has never functioned properly and has been acting up stating "power has been lost" on numerous occasions for the past 6 months and now it is totally nonfunctional. This unit is a little over 3 years old and should not have a major issue like this that requires an $800-$1000 repair! These are expensive appliances and should have a longer life span than 3 years.

This has been issues since day one. This is the first whirlpool and bought it for the whirlpool name and reputation. Highly recommend avoiding this oven combo. There is an obvious manufacturers defect after reading other reviews and the issues I have experienced. Just after 1 year of use (warranty is 1 year) the magnetron failed which required replacing the magnetron and control board. One year later the display experiences power loss on a daily basis. Whirlpool should take responsibility for these failures after seeing how many people are experiencing the same issues.

Whirlpool issues with electric panels

Moony 12/7/2024

Garbage don't buy. New builder built wall oven microwave combo. Supposedly manufactured 2021; installed by builder 2023. Exactly used, lightly for a year and half. From the get go I noticed the microwave door was glitchy when it comes to closing door. Door has to be pushed in to secure it's turned off and lights are out. Clock for date and time on panel NEVER worked right; ever, always 5 min FAST by the end of a month; I was ok with living with it. NOW microwave light is dead already. It does't look like it's burnt. It is something with its glitchy panel. Warranty is only for one year, so smart tactic cause they know their products are GARBAGE! Now have to ho through hoops through my appliance warranty to get this pice of crap fixed. This is not the first time I have issues with whilpool appliances. They always have issues w light and not simply a light bulb exchange which is more tricky with the newer models. I had a whirlpool fridge before 2 door. It was a problem within that caused lights in fridge and freezer to play dead and had to get it fixed professionally. When I bought my new home built cookie cutter by one of those builders who put crap for quick bucks and my ONLY OPTION was whirlpool appliances I invested in an appliance warranty.. Stay away from Whirlpool, pay the extra for a trustworthy plan. Overtime, it will save you more money and agita.

mistershakles 11/26/2024

Horrible engineering. From the start we had issues with sensitivity of the screen and not being able to set the oven to turn off when done. Would have to wait until the timer was done and try again. Now after only 2 years the control panel decides to go into "Control Lock"! Turning off the breaker did no good. Even left it off for two days then tried again. What a stupid feature. Seems its just Whirlpool's methodology to extract more money by combining crappy technology to basic needs.

Problems with bulb and starting

ccbinnal 10/17/2024

The bulb can not be changed by owner, only be certified electrician. I have had the bulb go out just before the warranty and now it has happened again, after warranty. The certified electrician messed up the door so now I have to apply pressure to have the door close and register so it will run. Also the microwave intermittently starts but only moves around slowly as if it's broken and doesn't know what to do. I have to stop it and start again until it turns correctly.

This microwave/oven combo is garbage. Don't buy it

AllenV 10/16/2024

DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT!! I purchased it new a few years ago. We had problems from the start. All the same issue everyone on here is complaining about. Clock won't keep time, the oven won't keep a constant temp, the touch screen doesn't always respond, and occasionally I'll have to go switch the breaker to turn off the unit. Whirlpool replaced the entire unit once. Then we had the same issues with the new unit. Whirlpool sent out a repair company who replaced a control board and a fan. Now having the same issues again. Now Whirlpool won't help because I didn't buy an extended warranty. I have spent hours on the phone with them and they refuse to help. Extremely poor customer service!!

Fan cooling after oven is off is a problem!

Cass 10/14/2024

I really dislike this oven. It has a fan that continues to run after it is turned off. This is not only loud and annoying, but it also affects my recipes that require my cheescake's to cool in a closed oven for an hour. There is no way to turn the fan off that I am aware of.

Stay Away from this Oven combo

The UI board and control board were already replaced. Cost me $1300 with Whirlpool unwilling to replace without proof of warranty from builder install.
